The purpose of this site is not only to honor Bruce Bellas, one of the greatest vintage physique photographers of all time, but an attempt to pick up the pieces of the Bruce estate and put his work back together model by model, photo shoot by photo shoot. We have available the ability to scan a large collection of Bruce original photos, some of them never seen anywhere else.

This site has also used images found on eBay and other Internet locations. We have started with a large group of images that we have previously scanned, but we need your help. We need you to contribute to this site in any way you can. Here are five suggestions of things that will help:

  1. We need images not found on this site, even if you're not sure if they are Bruce work.
  2. We need your help identifying unnamed images currently on the site.
  3. We need model bios and any information relating to Bruce Bellas.
  4. Locating Bruce models. We would love to interview anyone who modeled, worked for or worked with Bruce. Anyone having information of any such person would be appreciated, no matter how remote.
  5. Most importantly, we need corrections of existing information. Some of what we have posted relies on the knowledge of contributors, eBay sellers, or other Internet and personal sources. Our theory is to post anything that comes from a reliable source and so it will remain until someone corrects it. So let's hear from you.

You can contact us from our contact us page. We welcome any ideas, images, information, or concepts that improve this site.

Site Layout

The site is divided inte 9 sections and all of them need more images.

EARLY. This section includes the Naked Heartland images, as well as other rarely seen examples of Bruce's work in the 1930s-40s in Nebraska, Kansas, or Los Angeles.

SINGLE MODELS. These are Bruce models that we know the names for, but do not have enough images of to give him a section in the model sets section. We generally want 3-4 images of each model before putting him in the sets section.

MODEL SETS. The bulk of the Bruce images are here. These are the guys we have names and several images of. We always need more of every guy. These are the guys who were predominantly or exclusively photographed by Bruce. This section is primarily for solo model shoots.

DUOS & WRESTLING. This section is for named and unnamed photos of 2 or more guys in posed or wrestling situations. This will include nudes and non nudes.

POSING STRAP. This section includes only unknown miscellaneous images of guys in posing straps or draped poses. There are no nudes here. As this section develops it will include many of the great body building photos of guys posing in trunks or at contests.

BRUCE MODELS THROUGH OTHER LENSES. This section is for the guys who posed for several photographers around the country and where Bruce was one of several who did photo work. This section also includes work after the death of Bruce in 1974 by his disciples Kurt Deitrich, Kent Schlusselmen, and Kensington Road. This section needs the most corrections, so let's hear from you if someone does not belong at all, or other changes.

BRUCE BONERS. Bruce produced more great boner shots than any other vintage photographer. Here we see all those hardon studs who will go nameless until someone helps out. Name that boner.

BRUCE BUTTS. Here we see a large collection of backsides that we have not been able to name. Filling in names here will be a challenge without faces (in most cases) to see. However we can't leave any Bruce images out.

BRUCE NUDES. Again photos without names, but this time frontal nudes without erections. We need your help again, these should be easier with faces.

UPDATES

Each section will be updated each month. It is our goal to provide at least one page (18 images)for each section. The updates will first appear on the update page. When a new update is done for that section, the previous month's images will be moved into the appropriate sections with existing images. A what's new list will be maintained. Minor changes, such as moving 1-2 images from the unknown to known sections may not be noted. Large changes, moving 3 or more images willl be found in the what's new.
